Automatic clustering of constituent faults into a single surface is accomplished with the Planar Clustering feature (licensed separately), which allows the user to select which faults may potentially be clustered together.

Faults are named according to their strike and dip, allowing the interpreter to easily select, manipulate, display and analyze structural orientations.

Faults split into separate extracted faults are usually split because of a geologic change, prompting the geoscientist to evaluate the reason for the break rather than forcing manual picks from line to line.

It is a one-day field trip to a location about 45 minutes from our campus, usually taking a full Saturday (8-10 hours). This exercise is founded upon a field trip that we take for Sedimentology, to Ohiopyle State Park.
